What A Week

Aaron Rodgers 1

I used Aaron Rodgers in the opening blog for this site because he was the biggest story in the offseason. And much like the offseason, he was again the biggest story of week 1, and for all the wrong reasons.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, making his debut with the New York Jets, was carted off the field after suffering a left Achilles injury on just his fourth play in the team’s Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills and will miss the rest of the 2023 season.

While I’m not a huge fan, I never wanted to see him go down like that. At age 39, it’s possible he could retire.

With regards to our pool, it was an eventful first week with some bold moves for some.

The biggest game on the board was the Washington Commanders versus the Arizona Cardinals. While most people expect the Cardinals to be horrible this year, they had the lead with about 10 minutes left in the game, and with 5 pool members in jeopardy of losing their pool lives, Arizona did what they do. They fumbled with the lead, and eventually lost the game.

Scott K made a bold move in taking Seattle, who lost handily against the LA Rams. Maybe Scott will buy back in, we’ll see.

Taryn also made a bold move by taking a very short favorite Chicago Bears who got thumped by the Aaron Rodgers-less Packers.

Kevbo took the Cincy Bengals who were never in the match in one of the worst performances by Joe Burrow.

Paddy survived a huge scare with his NY Jets down by 10 early, and a backup QB in for Rodgers. But the NY Jets defense made Josh Allen and the Bills look completely lost, turning the ball over 4 times.

Reminder that entry fees are due before Sunday if you haven’t paid already. And also, players that get eliminated can re-buy back in for $100 until week 5. So if you’re out in week 4, you can buy back in. Week 6 there are no more buy in.

Good luck to all in a tricky week 2.
